Inades-Formation Burkina<\/strong><\/a> organized on April 12 and 13, 2023<\/strong> in the commune of<\/strong> Arboll\u00e9<\/strong>in the Nord region,<\/strong> public conferences for local students. <\/strong>The aim <\/strong>contribute to raising the awareness of young <\/strong>students<\/strong> on <\/strong>environmental protection.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Climate change”, “plastic pollution”, “agro-ecology”: these were the topics addressed during public lectures organized for pupils in the rural commune of Arboll\u00e9. Two sessions were organized over two days. Over two hundred students from secondary schools took part.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Koudougou KABORE, Provincial Director of Environment and Sustainable Development for the Passor\u00e9 province, was invited to talk to the students about climate change and plastic pollution. He enlightened the students on the notion of Climate Change and presented the causes and impact of the phenomenon. He also mentioned a few adaptation solutions, such as grass strips, stone cordons and village forests. With regard to plastic pollution, a film on the situation in Burkina Faso was shown.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The topic of agroecology was addressed by Ouss\u00e9ni OUEDRAOGO, agronomist and associate member of Inades-Formation Burkina. He pointed out that agroecology is a form of agriculture that is more respectful of the environment and human beings, with principles to be understood and respected. These include : Regenerating and maintaining natural soil fertility, saving and managing water in a sustainable way, promoting the natural health of crops and livestock, enhancing the role of trees in a production system. At the end of the various conferences, the students received posters produced by Inades-Formation Burkina on the ten commandments of the young eco-citizen<\/strong> formulated by the Burkina Faso Ministry in charge of the environment.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Alongside the public lectures, a radio program on the same subjects was recorded and broadcast on the Voix des Femmes radio station in Arboll\u00e9. Taking part in the show were the Passor\u00e9 Provincial Director for the Environment and Sustainable Development, a student member of his school’s Green Club Bureau, and two representatives of Inades-Formation Burkina.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

These various awareness-raising activities are part of the implementation of the Projet de renforcement de l’\u00e9cocitoyennet\u00e9 par l’\u00e9ducation environnementale des \u00e9l\u00e8ves de la commune de Arboll\u00e9 dans la r\u00e9gion du Nord du Burkina Faso (PRECoRN). Inades-Formation Burkina is implementing this project with the support of the Basque Government, via the Basque Agency for Cooperation and Development (ABCD).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Around ten public and private post-primary and secondary schools in the commune of Arboll\u00e9 are involved in this project. Inades-Formation Burkina has already helped students set up Green Clubs in their schools. A school competition and a vacation camp on the issue of climate change will be organized in 2023.<\/p>\n
