The Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF\/CEDEAO) and INADES-Formation organized a workshop to consolidate the training modules.<\/strong> and the organization of regional training workshops for facilitators and country workshops. The workshop was held from March 18 to 22, 2024 in Abidjan and was attended by 16 people, including 9 Expert Trainers in various fields.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since Monday March 18, 2024, an Experts’ Workshop for the collective re-appropriation of the facilitation mechanism for regional facilitator training workshops, organized by the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF) of the ECOWAS Department of Economic Affairs and Agriculture, has been taking place at the H\u00f4tel Rose Blanche, in Abidjan, C\u00f4te d’Ivoire. <\/p>\n

This workshop is part of the implementation of the Support Project for Food Security Storage in West Africa – interim phase (STOCK II). The project is being carried out by the ECOWAS Commission through the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF), as part of the implementation of the ECOWAS regional food security storage strategy, and financed by the Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD) and the World Bank’s FSRP. <\/p>\n

ECOWAS’s regional food security storage strategy is based on three complementary lines of defence: (i) local stocks managed by groups or cooperative organizations ; (ii) national food security stocks managed by States, and (iii) the Regional Food Security Reserve. <\/p>\n

In implementing the first phase of the project, Inades-Formation was entrusted with the task of setting up a regional training capability for stock managers, including the design of training curricula and the deployment of training courses in the field. <\/p>\n

This training will take place in two stages: (i) training of facilitators identified within producer organizations and meeting a certain number of criteria, and (ii) the multiplication of these training courses in the field by facilitators within relay institutions identified in the 15 ECOWAS countries and 02 CILS countries (Chad and Mauritania). <\/p>\n

Inades-Formation has already carried out a number of actions: (i) design of a training program (curriculum) for local stock managers, (ii) design of training modules and a facilitator’s guide; (iii) the design of an online training platform (E-learning) and digital teaching resources for training local stock managers. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

To facilitate deployment of the training at national level, 3 regional workshops are planned to train facilitators, who will deliver the training to the final beneficiaries, i.e. the elected representatives and technical executives\/managers of POs at Union\/Federation and grassroots level. Experts have been selected to lead the regional facilitator training workshops. These are thematic experts, and experts in andragogy\/adult workshop facilitation. <\/p>\n

The implementation of a regional training capability for local stock managers is intended to provide a lasting structure for ongoing training. \"\"<\/p>\n

At the opening of the workshop, Mr. Kouam\u00e9 Alphonse, on behalf of the SG of Inades-Formation, welcomed the RAAF\/ECOWAS partners and all the participants. He expressed Inades-Formation’s thanks and gratitude to RAAF for the collaboration on the previous phase of the project and also expressed Inades-Formation’s delight at being associated with this 2nd phase of the project before introducing the team of experts mobilized by Inades-Formation to conduct this training process. <\/p>\n

The workshop will look in depth at the pedagogical resources and facilitation arrangements for regional and country workshops, with a view to better organization and facilitation of the various workshops. Participants will review and discuss the training modules and learner’s manual, familiarize themselves with the e-learning platform and its operation, and draw up a timetable for regional and country workshops. <\/p>\n

The workshop brought together 16 participants, including 8 thematic experts, andragogy\/workshop facilitation experts and 08 members of the technical team from the Agence R\u00e9gionale pour l’Agriculture et l’Alimentation (RAAF). It will run from March 18 to 22, 2024. <\/p>\n
