The efforts of agricultural producers are to be valued for agricultural sustainability.<\/em><\/p>

\"\"Committed to sustainable food systems, INADES-Formation Burundi actively participated in the organization of the National Agricultural Fair and National Peasant Forum, 2025 edition, which took place from October 16 to 17, 2025 in the capital of Gitega Province.<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

This event was made possible thanks to close collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock (MINEAGRIE) and other stakeholders involved in Burundi’s agricultural sector, namely the member organizations of the Groupe de Plaidoyer Agricole (GPA).<\/p>

The general theme was: “Agro-pastoral intensification, development and marketing of agricultural and livestock products, a pillar for achieving vision 2040, an emerging country and 2060, a developed country”.<\/p>

\"\"Launched by the Permanent Secretary of MINEAGRIE, the event was aimed at establishing trade and marketing relations for agricultural products by region, while creating partnerships based on farmers’ know-how. It was a welcome opportunity to present the main achievements of Burundi’s development partners, including INADES-Formation Burundi. <\/p>

\"\"In the agricultural fair, INADES-Formation Burundi presented its main achievements through agricultural products brought by its beneficiaries on the one hand, and through visibility tools displayed in the exhibition stands on the other. The organization’s exhibitors demonstrated the various practices and achievements promoted to support sustainable food systems. These included agricultural products derived from agro-ecological practices for healthy, sustainable food, as well as tools illustrating actions to build resilience in the face of climate change.\"\"These included improved stoves, beans, cassava flour, pineapples, cabbage, rice, data sheets on the use of biopesticides, mobilization image boxes and other interesting publications. <\/p>

\"\"Over the two days, visitors appreciated the products displayed by INADES-Formation Burundi. The stands became not only places to sell products, but also places to learn, as huge crowds rushed to ask questions about the good practices being promoted. <\/p>

\"\"Some of them even made an appointment to visit the organization’s headquarters to learn more about these practices and stock up on a few products and tools to replicate at home. All the agricultural products brought in were sold before the end of the agricultural fair. <\/p>

At the national farmers’ forum reserved for debate, INADES-Formation Burundi held a conference-debate on good agroecological practices and resilience to climate change.<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>

This event was a perfect opportunity to present the results of the study on the role and consideration of climate change in national, regional and international policies and strategies.<\/p>

\"\"During the discussions, fueled by the presentation by the consultant and the ABCD project manager, the audience understood that achieving Burundi’s vision will depend on the level of commitment and effective implementation of sustainable agricultural practices.<\/p>

\"\"For sustained success, the participants proposed measures to be undertaken and a series of consistent recommendations, notably the translation into application and amendment of certain texts. The latter are generally replete with provisions that are almost silent on agro-ecological practices and measures. They reinforced and understood that the effective implementation of the\"\" national action plan for family farming in Burundi 2025-2030 remains strategic according to the priorities identified based on sustainable food systems. <\/p>

Finally, INADES-Formation Burundi is delighted with the results of the event, and with its involvement throughout the process as vice-chairman of the organizing committee on behalf of 25 member organizations of the Groupe de Plaidoyer Agricole “GPA”.<\/p>
