On October 15 of each year, Burundi joins other countries around the world in celebrating the International Day of Rural Women. It is an opportunity to recognize rural women and their role in developing the agricultural sector, improving food security and eradicating poverty.
Burundi will celebrate this international day under the theme “Rural women at the center of a balanced diet for all”.
This year, an exhibition and sale of diversified products of rural women coming from all the provinces of the country will be organized in the province of Gitega on October 18 and 19, 2022, at the basketball court of Gitega.
The opening ceremonies of this sales exhibition will take place at the Gitega Basketball Court on Tuesday, October 18 of this year.
We appeal to all the population, to the friends of the country and to the development partners to reinforce their support to the efforts of the rural women, pillar of the development of the country.
