The 8th edition of the Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC) took place from September 30 to October 2, 2022 in Abidjan, riviera golf. The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr. Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, Vice-President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. The theme of this edition was: “Local cocoa processing: opportunities for chocolate artisans”. This edition aimed to highlight the local processing industry in order to increase revenues for Côte d’Ivoire and improve the income of producers.

Nearly 60 organizations wishing to make themselves and their activities known to the general public opened their booths in the exhibition hall of the JNCC.

This year again, Inades-Formation Côte d’Ivoire, whose objectives include promoting the well-being of producers, has not missed a beat. He animated a stand where visitors could discover or rediscover the organization, its objectives, its activities and actions in the agricultural world in Côte d’Ivoire, particularly within the cocoa sector. Inades-Formation accompanies cooperatives in the production of organic cocoa. It also supports cocoa producers in advocating for better marketing of their product through the INKOTA project.

The stand of Inades-Formation Côte d’Ivoire received a little more than 450 visitors from various socio-professional categories: producers, cooperative societies, students, pupils and cocoa processors, etc.

One of the particularities of the stand of Inades-Formation Côte d’Ivoire was not only the availability of documents on the production of organic cocoa and other documentation, but also the discovery of dishes made with live sovereignty. These foodstuffs of sovereignty such as millet, sorghum and fonio were associated with cocoa in various forms (powder, nugget, toast) to offer original and pleasant dishes and drinks. This was a source of attraction for visitors, who were amazed to discover these “new dishes”. Thus, millet cake with cocoa powder, sorghum porridge with chocolate, sorghum cakes, millet juice, millet pancakes with chocolate, etc. were tasted by the visitors. Inades Formation invites the population to create and innovate from our local foodstuffs in order to revive them in our plates and also to consume cocoa on a daily basis by making it a living of sovereignty.

It was also an opportunity to establish collaborations with other organizations present at the CGNC.

The JNCC received about 4500 visitors according to the coffee and cocoa council.

A closing ceremony, chaired by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Promotion of SMEs, representing the Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, sponsor of this 8th edition marked the end of the JNCC 2022.

It was an opportunity to present the various recommendations made during the exchanges and panels that took place. In their presentation, the technical advisor of the General Manager of the Coffee-Cocoa Council recalled the need to increase the supply of cocoa products, to promote local consumption of chocolate in Côte d’Ivoire. He also insisted on the importance of accompanying chocolate artisans so that they carry out their entrepreneurial activities.

See you in 2024 for the 9th edition.

ABCD2 project

Projet ABCD-Un élève un arbre COP28

1. Project title

Supporting the scaling-up of community experiences and citizen monitoring of public policies in response to climate change in sub-Saharan Africa (ABCD 2 project)

2. Summary

The project to scale up community experiences and dynamics of citizen monitoring of public policies in the face of climate change in sub-Saharan Africa is the continuation of an initial project to capitalize on these experiences.

In fact, in 2022, with funding from the Basque Agency for Development Cooperation (ABCD), Inades-Formation carried out the “Study-capitalization of good practices in the face of the challenges of climate change and local governance in sub-Saharan Africa ” project, which capitalized on 50 experiences, including 31 climate change adaptation experiences and 19 governance experiences in 11 sub-Saharan African countries.

Based on the results of this pilot project, we have been able to identify and capitalize on some of the living realities of community efforts to combat the problems posed by climate change in Africa. They have been developed by a variety of players, including public services specializing in environmental and climate change management, civil society organizations and farmers’ organizations.

This second phase of the project, which will run for 30 months (2022-2024), aims to (i) scale up these good experiences developed by communities in African countries, in terms of adaptation, mitigation and resilience to climate change and of (ii) support the dynamics of citizen monitoring of the associated policy and regulatory frameworks.
