. : Of course! The issue of peasant seeds also responds to the objectives of the AlimenTERRE Consciousness Campaign carried by Inades-Formation and its allies, which aims at healthy and sustainable food through food sovereignty because “food is a right, eating is a vote”!
If the right to food is inalienable, it remains that every consumer must freely choose what he or she decides to consume. This is why the issue of biodiversity is also important to restore endangered seeds. This is one of COPAGEN’s struggles.

What will be the end result?

. This debate aims at highlighting the importance of farmer seeds in food sovereignty and therefore, the place of choice that must be reserved for them in agricultural and seed policies with regard to national and international texts to which Togo has adhered. The aim is to collect proposals on the actions to be taken to bring the State and the actors of the sector to reinforce
support for farmers’ seed systems and recognition of quality control mechanisms for farmers’ seeds.

What will be the highlights of the conference? I want to talk about the communications, the panels, the interventions…

The conference will be furnished by two communications and a panel. The first communication will be on the theme: ”Farmers’ seeds: concept-production-conservation-dissemination” and will be animated by Professor Guido AZIADEKEY, Lecturer at the Ecole Supérieure d’Agronomie. The second presentation will focus on the regulatory and legal framework of farmer seeds in Togo and will be presented by Mr. ESSIOMLEY Komi, Director of Agricultural Seeds and Plants (DSP). These communications will be followed by a panel of 60 min which will be animated by four panellists and will deal with the stakes, challenges and perspectives on the place and importance of farmer seeds in Togo.
