“Forests, a sustainable production and consumption” is the theme of the National Day of the Tree, 2022 edition. In Burundi, this day is celebrated on December 9, 2022 in the north of the country, in the province of Kirundo, Busoni commune, Gisenyi zone, Marembo hill under the High Patronage of the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, on behalf of the President of the Republic. Being its area of action, Inades-Formation Burundi was there. The activities started with the planting of trees in the buffer zone (50 m) of Lake Cohoha, bordering the Republic of Rwanda in the Bugesera natural region.
The participation of Inades-Formation Burundi was remarkable through the visibility tools of the day and through the official speech delivered by the Governor of the Province of Kirundo. He publicly testified to the important role played by Inades-Formation Burundi in the protection of the lakes Nagitamo in Bugabira commune and Mwungere in Ntega commune where interventions for the promotion of peasant agro-ecology in the service of food sovereignty are carried out thanks to the support of CCFD-Terre Solidaire and AFD.
After his heartfelt thanks, He encouraged Inades-Formation Burundi which is starting the protection of the3rd lake Narungazi located in the commune Ntega and invites all the other actors to follow suit. He appreciates his approach and techniques including community mobilization for the production and use of organic manure to maintain and restore soil fertility.
The National Tree Day is part of Inades-Formation Burundi’s initiatives to intensify the production of multi-purpose seedlings by the beneficiaries of projects and programs implemented in the communities of the action zone at the national level.
