This Wednesday 7/12/2022 in Bujumbura, Inades-Formation Burundi has just organized an information and media awareness workshop on the management of synthetic chemical pesticides in Burundi. Opened by the President of the Burundian Association of Broadcasters “ABR” accompanied by the head of programs at Inades-Formation Burundi on behalf of the Director, the workshop saw the participation of about fifteen national and community media (radio and television). The President of ABR is pleased with the interventions promoted by Inades-Formation Burundi and its willingness to collaborate with the media, important vectors in the dissemination of information.
The objective of the workshop was to inform and sensitize Burundian journalists on the extent of the use of synthetic chemical pesticides in agriculture and the dangers they pose to human health, biodiversity and the environment. It was also intended to encourage them to regularly disseminate information on changing their behavior by adopting agroecological practices and enforcement measures.
With the intention of having a common understanding, the journalists asked clarifying questions about the AlimenTERRE awareness campaign. In return, they provided clear proposals and channels for the issues of synthetic chemical pesticides and alternatives to be disseminated to the general public (media synergy, etc.).
Their commitment is to include topics related to biopesticide promotion in their regular program offerings. In fact, almost all of the participating media outlets recorded elements of the newspaper and various programs to be broadcast on their airwaves after the workshop.
Thus, the innovative communication media campaign on healthy, sufficient and sustainable food is launched in Burundi.
