Inades-Formation Burundi participates in the agricultural fair organized in the capital city of Burundi, in the Province of Gitega from October 18 to 19, 2022 during the International Day of Rural Women, 2022 edition. Around the global theme “the rural woman at the center of a balanced diet for all”, the rural women supervised by Inades-Formation Burundi exposed the different agricultural products fulfilling the agroecological conditions.
The exhibition stands of Inades-Formation Burundi provoked a serious curiosity and a particular attention to all the public. In addition to displaying communication tools with key public awareness messages about the AlimenTERRE Consciousness Campaign, rural women also demonstrated dishes made from sovereignty foods (bean dips, bean and rice samboussa, complete bean porridge, etc.). The role of the rural woman in the food campaign is preponderant. They contribute to more than 70% of the population’s diet.
The high personalities who raised of their presence the opening ceremonies had the opportunity to visit the stands of Inades-Formation Burundi and have all tasted on these menus. Composed of the Representative of the United Nations in Burundi; the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights and Gender who represented the Minister; the Governor of Gitega Province, international and national NGOs; organizations, cooperatives of women farmers and the media all learned from the innovations and know-how of the women farmers accompanied by Inades-Formation Burundi. These women come from the cooperatives of Giheta, Nyanza lac, Kabo, Kirundo, Maramvya and Cibitoke.
