Inades-Formation Togo is an NGO providing support and training throughout the national territory with areas of concentration mainly in rural areas. The areas of intervention are : food systems based on family farming, local governance and inclusion, community microfinance and natural resource management, and resilience to climate change. Its actions are supported by advocacy on issues related to healthy and sustainable food, the promotion of sovereignty food, the promotion of peasant seeds, land management, the implementation of the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (UNDAF) and the United Nations Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (UNDESR).

Thus, as part of its advocacy activities, Inades-Formation Togo is looking for a qualified person (M/F) to fill the position below.


Job Description :

Job Title  Advocacy Officer

Place of employment  National Directorate of Inades-Formation Togo, Lomé.

Duration of the contract : One year renewable contract.

Remuneration of the candidate  :According to the Inades-Formation Togo salary scale.

Starting date January 2023.


Assignments :

Reporting to the Family Farming Support Program Manager, the Advocacy Officer will contribute to the definition and steering of thematic advocacy strategies with the main responsibilities :

  1. to pilot the different advocacy campaigns carried out by Inades-Formation Togo ;
  2. Develop alliances with other CSO platforms and other stakeholders for successful advocacy campaigns ;
  3. animate/participate in debates on themes related to the Institution’s actions ;
  4. develop collaboration with the media ;
  5. Ensure quality control of the National Office’s advocacy interventions ;
  6. Ensure the implementation and animation of the advocacy mechanism on the various programs ;
  7. Produce impact reports on the different actions carried out by the advocacy ;
  8. Coordinate the development and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation plan for the expected impact of each advocacy campaign [1];
  9. Coordinate the realization of studies to help understand the issues in front of the argumentation, decision making and communication on the results of advocacy;
  10. Coordinate the communication around each advocacy campaign in collaboration with the Communications Officer ;
  11. capitalize on different stages of advocacy ;
  12. contribute to the mobilization of financial resources ;
  13. to represent Inades-Formation Togo in the networks and platforms which defend the selected themes ;
  14. to carry out the programming and the periodic reports ;
  15. carrying out any other delegated responsibilities as required.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • be of Togolese nationality ;
  • have a minimum of a BAC + 5 in bilingual communication, agronomy, environment, law, sociology, project management or other equivalent degrees ;
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience with at least two (2) years in a position of responsibility in the field of advocacy;
  • strong ability to seek funding (identifying opportunities, drafting projects and negotiating) ;
  • ability to design and facilitate multi-stakeholder meetings to achieve results
  • ability to identify key documents and create synthesis documents
  • writing skills and conciseness in the interventions ;
  • sense of organization and anticipation ;
  • capacity through inter-associative advocacy and campaigns ….
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
  • Experience of working in the world of NGOs and/or Associations;
  • integrity and good character ;
  • ability to work under pressure and in a team;
  • be available to travel frequently within the national territory and even outside the country ;
  • Good knowledge of computer tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet,…) ;
  • have a category B driver’s license.

ABCD2 project

1. Project title

Supporting the scaling-up of community experiences and citizen monitoring of public policies in response to climate change in sub-Saharan Africa (ABCD 2 project)

2. Summary

The project to scale up community experiences and dynamics of citizen monitoring of public policies in the face of climate change in sub-Saharan Africa is the continuation of an initial project to capitalize on these experiences.

In fact, in 2022, with funding from the Basque Agency for Development Cooperation (ABCD), Inades-Formation carried out the “Study-capitalization of good practices in the face of the challenges of climate change and local governance in sub-Saharan Africa ” project, which capitalized on 50 experiences, including 31 climate change adaptation experiences and 19 governance experiences in 11 sub-Saharan African countries.

Based on the results of this pilot project, we have been able to identify and capitalize on some of the living realities of community efforts to combat the problems posed by climate change in Africa. They have been developed by a variety of players, including public services specializing in environmental and climate change management, civil society organizations and farmers’ organizations.

This second phase of the project, which will run for 30 months (2022-2024), aims to (i) scale up these good experiences developed by communities in African countries, in terms of adaptation, mitigation and resilience to climate change and of (ii) support the dynamics of citizen monitoring of the associated policy and regulatory frameworks.

Feminist Climate Action Project – West Africa ACF-AO

2. Summary

The “Feminist Climate Action in West Africa” project is being implemented in Côte d’Ivoire to contribute effectively to the resilience and fight against the effects of climate change by ecologically sensitive coastal and island communities, with a particular focus on rural women and young people.

It will build the capacity of communities, particularly women and young people, to implement strategies to protect biodiversity and ecosystems, notably through the adoption of agroecological practices, energy diversification and advocacy. It will strengthen the participation of rural women and young people in local governance of biodiversity and climate action.

Funded by Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada, the ACF AO project is taking place in Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal and Togo.

It is managed in Côte d’Ivoire by SUCO and Inades-Formation – Secrétariat Général.

The African Rural Development Fund (ARDF) was established on July 23, 1997 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, following the realization that Africa’s development can only be achieved through self-financing.

FondAfrica is an appeal to public generosity through collection actions from natural and legal persons.
