1) Hello Mr. AGBOGBAZE Mensa. Tell us, how did you get to the Board?
Before being elected to the Board of Directors, I was an executive trainer of Inades-Formation Togo, member of the Orientation Council and founding member of the National Association. I came to the Board by election as provided for in the Association’s bylaws.
It should be noted, however, that in order to join the National Association, you must be either an individual or a corporation and meet a number of conditions and submit an application for membership sponsored by two (2) members of the National Association. The basic criteria to be met are:
– Know and accept the values and philosophy of Inades-Formation Togo;
– Adhere to the Statutes of Inades- Formation Togo ;
– To be available and committed to the cause of rural populations;
– Agree to devote their time and resources to the life of the Association and to the achievement of the objectives of Inades-Formation.
2) What are the main tasks of the Board members?
The main duties of the Board members are derived from the authority assigned to the Board. These include:
– to ensure the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly
– approve the policy and action plan
– approve the Annual Work Plan (AWP) and budget
– Support the National Office in the search for funding;
– to follow the implementation of the activities, the financial management and the human resources management of the National Office;
– request evaluations and audits;
– designate evaluators and management auditors for evaluations and audits
– to examine and submit the activity reports, balance sheets and accounts for approval by the General Assembly;
– to ensure the quality of the interventions of the National Office;
– approve the staff bylaws;
– to examine and submit to the General Assembly the applications for admission to the Association;
– to propose to the General Assembly the modifications of the Statutes and Internal Regulations.
3) How did you find the mission you were given?
The mission entrusted to the Board of Directors is a very delicate and at the same time exhilarating one.
It is delicate because as a member of the Board of Directors, you have a heavy responsibility before the associates and also before the partners since the orientations you give must allow you to induce effects/impacts and therefore bring about changes.
It is exhilarating because it allows you to learn from each other, to discover and to gradually identify the Inades-Formation network which is actually very complex.
4) What has stood out for you during your tenure?
What impressed me was the climate and the richness of the exchanges. Debates are sometimes very heated over disagreements, but compromises or consensus are always reached. It is above all the open-mindedness of the various parties that encourages debate.
5) A word to the new members
For the new members, there are some who are former executives who worked at Inades-formation Togo. These people already know the institution Inades-Formation Togo. It is up to them to better integrate the management rules of the Institution and the values that the Institution conveys.
For those who have not worked at Inades-Formation, they must invest more time to deepen their knowledge of the Association, integrate its values and make themselves available to support the National Office.
6) Your closing remarks
The work of a board member requires commitment, sacrifice and availability. The member must constantly be mindful of Inades-Formation’s outreach.
I wish the new members of the Courage, courage and courage and that the commitment to the cause of the rural world is integrated to SERVE THE COMMON GOOD.
