This is one of the new projects in the annual work plan of Inades-Formation Togo. This is the Inclusive Food Security and Resilience Project in Togo, abbreviated SAIRT, implemented in the Savanes and Kara regions, specifically in the communes of Tandjoaré1, Oti2 and Oti sud 1, Kozah 1, Kozah 2, Assoli 1, for a period of 3 years (2022-2025) in partnership with CBM. It is financed to the tune of 1,102,281 euros by the German cooperation BMZ. The SAIRT project aims to contribute to the sustainable improvement of the economic, social and health conditions of agricultural producers, including people with disabilities, in the rural communities of the targeted regions.
The SAIRT project is a solution approach to three major problems. These include food insecurity in rural areas, especially for people with disabilities, insufficient exploitation of agricultural employment potential for all, including people with disabilities in rural and peri-urban areas, and insufficient access to safe drinking water and sanitation. It therefore plans to address food insecurity and basic water and sanitation services, with particular emphasis on promoting employment in agriculture and addressing access to water and sanitation.
About 3. 075 people, members of the UROPC Kara and Savanes, the Association of Motivated Handicapped Persons of Tône (APHMOTO) in the Savanes region and the Association of Handicapped Persons of Kozah (APHAK) in the Kara region will benefit from the actions of this project.
Ultimately, the SAIRT project will promote the creation of decent, sustainable and inclusive jobs for all, including people with disabilities, in the vegetable, agricultural, poultry, beekeeping and agribusiness sectors in the Savanes and Kara regions. Work has already begun with scoping workshops with the actors involved. The official launch is scheduled for next month.
